NOVEMBER 2012 NEWSLETTER

Do you read this newsletter because you love music, appreciate the emotional nourishment it gives you, and to balance the discombobulated and often so difficult daily life?

Maybe your interest lies in the musical career of the young musicians whose lives can be so positively guided by participating in "our" competition and network. Perhaps your interest simply exists because you are enjoy this the musical dialogue.

Someone who really knows told me that nobody reads lengthy newsletters; send short letters more often. I want to make this a better experience for you. I have stayed with the long, infrequent format because I don't want to inundate your inboxes. Please let me know what you prefer: one long letter per month, or more frequent missives?

Last month, Duo Genova & Dimitrov played music by Arensky and Gershwin at a private Salon concert. It seems a very odd arc through time, but what happened was magical. This is what Anthony Tommasini writes about in this Sunday's New York Times. Although I am trying to shorten the newsletters, I just had to include parts of this piece. Read it below.

Now, on to the Competition: in a few more weeks occur the live auditions. Below are the details for each city. We not only present those auditions as wonderful concert opportunities in each of the cities; for the first time we have prepared travel packages with the input of the Greater Miami Visitor's and Convention Bureau so as to invite audiences to visit Miami for the Competition in May 2013. Details on the travel packages next month.

The next juror I want to introduce is Chloe de Herteleer with the De Singel Musiccomplex in Belgium. What a great connection for young artists to have!

Another introduction: our most recent Trustee Board member, Jeff Feldman. We are honored and excited to have him join us.

The Season: make sure to get your tickets for the December concert by the Italian Duo Pianistico Ragazzoni. Not Dranoff laureates, but co-presented by us with the Coral Gables Museum.
Better still: get your season subscription. There is a link below to purchase tickets.

Finally, my appeal to help us with the competition. Your involvement is critical. Host a duo, underwrite the jurors's honoraria, sponsor a day at the semi-finals at the Frost School of Music in the University of Miami, host a Salon Concert..... We cannot do it without you. Please let me know what you need from us to make your decision.

Thank you, and a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Gabriele Fiorentino
