March 14, Miami Beach.

Outside, amid the wild and feral party that South Beach calls spring break, there was no indication that a different type of celebration was just inside the elegant art deco walls of one of Miami’s most elegant hotels, The Betsy-South Beach. A group of music lovers collected in the Betsy’s lounge this evening for a special 2 piano concert performed by the dynamic Greek piano team, Duo Antithesis. 2003 winners of the coveted Dranoff 2 Piano Competition, the team performed the works of Richard Rodney Bennett, William Bolcom, and Marcel Bergmann, all internationally acclaimed composers and who had received commissions by the Dranoff 2 Piano Foundation. Duo Antithesis, a partnership of Petros Moschos and Dimitris Karydis, have been collaborating since 1997 when they were studying at the Royal Academy of Music in London. They have been the recipients of many top prizes and awards in addition to the Dranoff, at major international piano duo competitions.

The appreciative audience enjoyed the atmosphere of incredible music and artists in a magnificent art deco setting, along with delicious hors d’oeuvres and wine.
The concert was a joint presentation of the Dranoff 2 Piano Foundation and The Betsy-South Beach and was one of a series of performances hosted by The Betsy as part of its ongoing commitment to the power of philanthropy, arts, and culture.
