SUMMER 2013 NEWSLETTER

LOOKING BACK

Some of the highlights of this season:

16 artists from 7 countries competed in Miami with the closest scores ever in Dranoff history
Cash prizes of over $70,000 were awarded.

The top 3 teams have been invited to a seven Latin American countries for tours in 2014
These 3 teams will perform here at home during the 2013-2014 season.

A Knight Arts Grant, matched by Steinway USA, made possible live streaming of the competition which was heard and viewed by thousands around the world. This grant allowed us to commission WFMT Radio Network, producer of syndicated classical music radio programming, to create a documentary about the 12th Competition. It will air this fall and be syndicated to classical radio stations worldwide.

Media coverage of the competition was unprecedented in Miami-Dade

In its fifth year, Piano Slam saw more than 10,000 teens, families and friends take part in this year's event

The Dranoff produced over 20 public and private concerts

All our sponsors and supporters deserve our deepest appreciation, but a special thanks goes to The Betsy Hotel South Beach, Steinway and Sons, Bacardi USA, and Fidelity Investments for their commitments to making the competition successful.

You, our supporters, helped us raise $200,000 over the non-competition year budget. This is an important number, because as we embark on the journey toward the 13th competition, we build our resources to secure the future. I invite you to join us in making this an annual funding level.

LOOKING FORWARD

The 2013-2014 Season brings back all the winners of the competition and will present them in multiple locations in Dade County, from the South Dade Performing Arts Center in Cutler Bay to the Gusman Hall in Coral Gables, the Arsht Center in downtown Miami, St. Martha's Church in Miami Shores, and the New World Symphony Hall in Coral Gables.

The detailed season program will be released shortly.

Also, you can look forward to hear the WFMT produced documentary radio program on Classical South Florida, 89.7 in the fall or spring of the upcoming season.
