APRIL 2019

Dear Friends -

Thanks to valued music lovers and donors like you, Dranoff 2 Piano is celebrating 33 years of bringing the unique art of duo piano to audiences globally and our hometown of Miami.

Your generosity has provided more than 60% of Dranoff’s annual budget. We ask you to support Dranoff for this season to continue our high standard of musical excellence in our 34th performance season. Will you make a contribution to our Spring Fund Drive?

Highlights of our 2019-2020 season will include:

A  world premiere of the commissioned concerto for 2 pianos and orchestra by the noted composer Adam Schoenberg.

A 2 Piano Festival with international duos and young Miami pianists beginning their duo careers.

An expanded partnership with UM’s Rosenstiel School of Marine & Atmospheric Science, to introduce all PIANO SLAM participants to citizen science and research through observation, music and writing about Miami’s natural environment.
And of course,  PIANO SLAM 12. To date 80,000 Miami-Dade Public School teenagers have participated in this extraordinarily popular music education integration program in the Miami-Dade Public Middle and Senior High Schools.

If you make tax-deductible gift of $200 or more, we will celebrate you on Tuesday April 16th at a private Steinway Gallery Salon concert featuring international stars Ashley Hribar and Bobby Mitchell in a high energy program of classics by Gershwin, Ravel and Duke Ellington.

Please donate online. If you have any questions, call us at 305 572 9900.

On April 18th  we present our next movie and music concert in partnership with the Coral Gables Arts Cinema. The featured film is one of the great classics of film, Sunrise, A Song Of Two Humans. It was voted the best silent film and one of the top five best films in history. Duo Hribar and Mitchell have planning an epic, and surprising, musical tour de force of repertoire centered on the music of Mussorsky, Strauss, Gershwin, Ellington and more. Please scroll down for more information.

Beginning in 2017, Florida International University's CBRI team of Dr. Eric Wagner, Dr. Michelle Hospital and doctoral candidate Ana Maria Rodriguez have developed  a logic model to evaluate and assess the value of PIANO SLAM.  Their analyses, although not yet finished, have been a clear validation of the program’s impact, and helped the project evolve to grow the music, education and community connection and engagement. We deeply appreciate their work, and look forward to updates and the continuation of this assessment.

And finally, the PIANO SLAM 11 video. Pour a cup of something, sit back, and cry, laugh, reminisce and be inspired by the talent and hard work of our young poets.

Thank you for your kind generosity and continued support, your engagement and your suggestions!

.

Warmly,

Gabriele Fiorentino
