MISSION STATEMENT
The Dranoff International 2 Piano Foundation discovers and develops careers for young artists, expands the contemporary 2 piano repertoire, presents innovative collaborations in the performance arts, and positively contributes to the community via our outreach and education programs, ensuring young people have access to culture through music.
HISTORY
For 34 years, the Dranoff International 2 Piano Foundation has been the world’s leading champion of 2 piano repertoire and artistry. Located in Miami, Florida, it is one of the area’s few performing arts organizations whose activities span the globe and create international recognition for this art form. The Dranoff expands the 2 piano repertoire at the highest levels by commissioning Pulitzer Prize, Grammy & Academy Award, and Emmy winning classical and contemporary composers. Dranoff’s corporate commission series, the “Bacardi Choice,” sponsored by Bacardi USA, takes Dranoff into the realm of jazz. The first Bacardi Choice, Fantasia de Tres Mundos for 2 Pianos, was composed by
the Cuban-American jazz pianist Martin Bejerano. The second “Bacardi Choice,” Migrant Voyage, by Grammy nominated composer Manuel Valera, received its world premiere at the New World Center on February 21, 2016.
The Foundation is proud to have organized and presented twelve international 2 piano competitions for professional musicians ages 21 to 30, awarding the world’s top prize for piano duo. These competitions have produced over 40 winning duos, hailing from more than 20 countries. The Foundation presents these artist in concert on some of the world’s most esteemed concert stages, such as Carnegie Hall in New York City, the Mozarteum in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Netherlands.
In 2004, the Foundation expanded its activities in the community by partnering with the Miami Dade Public Schools to present PIANO SLAM: Dranoff’s performance & education program for teenagers in Title 1 schools. PIANO SLAM is a transformational performance program that uses music to enhance learning. Since 2009, Dranoff has brought live classical music performances to over 80,000 middle and high school students.
